Tamar Ioseliani: Citizens of Georgia will be able to cross the border at Kutaisi International Airport in just 18 seconds using their passports or ID cards

The Prime Minister of Georgia, together with the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, visited ongoing and planned infrastructure projects at Kutaisi International Airport. The Head of Government received detailed information about the projects from Tamar Ioseliani, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of United Airports of Georgia, and Levan Moseshvili, Director General.

“Today, together with the Prime Minister, we inspected the ongoing infrastructure works at Kutaisi International Airport and presented the scale of developments currently underway. We are building a new runway designed for F-category aircraft. This will be the first time in Georgia that we will be able to receive such aircraft without restrictions,” Tamar Ioseliani said.

According to her, construction of the new runway and related aerodrome infrastructure began in 2024 and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026.

“It is important that Kutaisi International Airport is focused on passengers, and therefore we are offering them electronic services. A key achievement is the introduction of new e-gates in the arrivals hall, which reduced the border-crossing time for Citizens of Georgia from 40 seconds to just 18 seconds. Every Citizen of Georgia will now be able to cross the border in 18 seconds using their passport or ID card.

Equally important are the self-check-in and contactless baggage drop-off services we have implemented at Kutaisi International Airport. In addition, I would highlight the recently completed aviation security project, which involved the installation of new body scanners, significantly reducing the risk of dangerous items being brought into the sterile zone,” Tamar Ioseliani said.

United Airports of Georgia continues to improve passenger and aircraft services at Kutaisi International Airport by introducing high-tech, modern, and customer-oriented solutions.
